CLP classification and labelling of mixtures

Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP) on the classification, labelling and packaging of chemicals applies to all substances and mixtures placed on the market. Through the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, the CLP labelling also applies to containers and pipelines in the workplace. All chemical suppliers and users of chemicals must:

reclassify their products and adapt their Safety Data Sheets

label hazardous products with new labels, hazard pictograms, hazard & precautionary statements.

Audience

The course is aimed at those responsible for product labelling/workplace labelling. The course leader is Erwin Theelen who has many years of experience with CLP classification in industry and REACH & CLP information. Course outline:

REACH & CLP introduction: roles, obligations & substance lists

new safety data sheets, information sources (interpreting info in ECHA databases) & harmonised classification

calculation methods & concentration limits for CLP classification of mixtures for environmental & health hazards

new requirements for labels (size, information, P-statements)

practice with calculations regarding health & environmental hazards.
