Training CLP labelling of chemicals

Regulation EC 1272/2008 (CLP) is the EU implementation of the Globally Harmonised System (GHS) and sets new requirements for the classification and labelling of chemicals (substances and mixtures). In 2024 CLP label rules where updated, but some of the updates are postponed and still under discussion.

Based on our experience with classifying mixtures and our background at the REACH & CLP helpdesk, we have developed two training courses:

  • Classification & labelling of mixtures according to CLP (focus on classification, other training)
  • Labelling according to CLP (see below).

This course enables anyone with a task in CLP labelling of chemicals to draft or check CLP hazard labels based on the CLP classification of the product (substance or mixture). The training course is also recommended for participants of the training course Classification & labelling of mixtures according to CLP in case CLP labelling is part of their job.

This course is also held in Dutch and Swedish (check our Dutch and Swedish websites).

Program (½ day)

  • Introduction to CLP: background, roles, obligations
  • CLP labels: design (sizes) and mandatory information, choosing appropriate P-phrases
  • Exemptions and use of fold-out labels
  • Practicing: solving labelling cases

Note that this course does not explain the classification rules for chemicals.
